How this site is made.

A note on the materials, in the old tradition of books that tell you what they were set in.

Type: Set in Instrument Sans throughout, display and body alike, with Fira Mono carrying the margin notes, labels, and figure captions. Fira Mono is self-hosted; Instrument Sans comes from Google Fonts.
Design: Paper, ink, hairline rules, and one oxblood accent. The grain on the page is a single SVG turbulence filter; the founder's portrait is a monochrome print blended into the paper stock.
Stack: SvelteKit 2 with Svelte 5 runes, written in TypeScript. The styles are hand-written CSS on a small set of custom properties.
Tools: Written at the terminal with Claude Code and Codex as pair programmers, every change directed and reviewed by hand. No page builder, no template, no theme.
Hosting: Prerendered to static HTML and served from Cloudflare Pages. There is no server or database behind it, and nothing to sign in to.
Privacy: The site sets no cookies and carries no tracking pixels. The only measurement is Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless.
